From Chiang Mai to Da Nang

From Chiang Mai to Da Nang Seasonal burning in Chiang Mai prompted a move to Da Nang, Vietnam. Between finishing a Linux course, starting Microsoft Server Technologies, and beginning CCNA2, I’m keeping my IT studies on track before heading back to Norway for a busy restaurant season.

From Chiang Mai to Da Nang

I’ve recently moved from Chiang Mai, Thailand, to Da Nang, Vietnam. The main reason was Chiang Mai’s seasonal burning season — and it’s not the kind of smoke you want to breathe in. A change of air (and scenery) seemed like the right move, and Da Nang’s coastal setting has been a nice upgrade.

Study Progress

I’ve finished my Linux course and have now started Microsoft Server Technologies, focusing on Active Directory. It’s interesting, but I still find networking and Linux more engaging. Those areas give me the kind of hands-on problem-solving I really enjoy.

Next Step: CCNA2

To keep building my networking skills, I’ve enrolled in CCNA2. It’s a challenging step, but it should help me expand my expertise and open new opportunities in IT.

Remote Work: Da Nang vs. Chiang Mai

Da Nang has been a great place to work remotely — lively, friendly, and with plenty to see. That said, Chiang Mai still takes the top spot for me when it comes to remote work, mostly because of its strong digital nomad community and the sense of connection it offers.

Heading Back to Norway

In two weeks, I’ll be heading back to Norway to reopen our family restaurant for the season. That means shifting gears from student and digital nomad back to restaurant manager while still keeping up with my Noroff studies and CCNA2 coursework.

Looking Ahead

The coming months will be busy, but I’m confident I can manage both roles. Living and studying abroad has taught me to adapt quickly — a skill I’ll need as I keep working toward my IT career while running a busy summer restaurant.
